Our Actors are Awesome!

All our actors are natives of the United Kingdom and the United States of America. They all have lots of experience in both theatre and working with children as well as a burning desire to bring quality theatre in English to the far flung corners of the earth. A gallery of photos and biographies can be found below.

Paolo Abbate

Born in Washington D.C., this strapping lad began acting in hospital at the age of three days when he changed cots with another baby for an extra round of breastfeeding. Since then he has had a dazzling career, stunning crowds at the Tuscaloosa Memorial Community Center and the Fairfax County Agricultural Fair. Fame forced him to flee the maddening crowds of star-starved American groupies, to a more sober life among the pastoral people of the Iberian meseta. Somewhere along the line he picked up a degree in English literature, as well as completing acting school. He has been in Spain almost 10 years acting in Spanish companies as well as teaching English. In 1997 he founded Up Front Theatre Company in Valencia with Stephane Shaw, performing theatre for English learners throughout Spain. After more than 500 successful shows with Up Front, they have started a "new improved"company called Face 2 Face, based in Madrid.

Michelle Botwood

Michelle graduated from Montfort University with a BA (Hons) in performing arts in 2006 and has been acting professionally ever since. Before coming to Spain, Michelle has performed in Germany, Holland, Japan, Canada and the UK. This will be her third year with Face2Face.

Beth Cohen

Beth is half English and half Australian. She studied Music and Drama in Manchester, England, and has been working with F2F since 2004. When not acting, Beth likes to play flamenco guitar and take her horse, 'Garbancito', to El Rocío.

Since then, she has trained in Musical Theatre at the LSMT, Arts Educational Schools London and Read Dance and Theatre College, also picking up a BA (Hons) degree in Spanish, French and German somewhere along the way. As well as acting and speaking languages, she enjoys teaching English, singing, dancing and playing the guitar. Before starting with Face2Face at Summer Camp 2018, Grace had performed in pantomimes, musicals, workshops, Shakespeare plays, cabarets, concerts and short films in the UK and Spain, most recently touring with Rainbow Theatre Company and Tepsis Producciones. She is very excited to be touring with Face2Face this year and bringing together her loves of theatre and education!

Stephane Shaw

Born in Paris, raised in London and resident in Spain for the past eight years this true European has been working in theatre for many years. After studying at Oxford University he moved to Spain to impart his inexhaustable knowledge of the English language to Spanish students of all ages. He was soon snapped up, however, by an English speaking touring theatre company (Moving Parts) and hasn't looked back since. Over the past five years he has worked with various professional English-speaking theatre companies. This invaluable experience was to be of great help in founding the company Up Front Theatre Company in 1997 which toured Spain for three years creating an excellent reputation for itself. He has now moved back to Madrid to embark on yet another project: Face 2 Face Theatre Company.
